Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a tool that allows you to easily manage and deploy marketing tags (snippets of code or tracking pixels) on your website without the need for a developer. Here are the steps to add GTM to your cinema website.

  1. If you don’t already have one, sign up for a (free) GTM account at https://tagmanager.google.com. Follow the prompts to create your account.

  2. Create a container: Once you have created your account, you will need to create a container for your website. Click on Create Container and enter the name of your website. Choose Web as the container type and select Create.

  3. You will then be presented with code to add to your website. The Your Cinema integration is simpler, so you can ignore this - click OK.

  4. On your dashboard, find your unique GTM ID (the format is “GTM-XXXXXX”). You will find it here:

  5. Copy (CTRL+C) that ID.

  6. Log in to your website admin, go to the Settings page, and scroll to Tracking.

  7. Paste (CTRL-V) the ID into the field Google Tag Manager ID. Hit Update.

You’re done. You can now add tags and triggers to your GTM account. Tags are snippets of code that send information to third-party applications and triggers tell GTM when to fire those tags. Follow the prompts in GTM to create your tags and triggers.
