Step 2: Create a property

Next, you need to create a property for your website. A property is a website that you want to track with Google Analytics. To create a property, follow these steps:

  1. In GA, click on the Admin tab.

  3. Follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 - click Create.
  4. On the Start Collecting Data screen, select Web.
  5. Enter your website URL and provide a name for your website. Click Create Stream.

Step 3: Get your Google Analytics ID

Now that you’ve created your account and property, we need your Measurement ID.

  1. On the screen Web Stream Details screen you’ll have landed on, find the Measurement ID (the format is G-XXXXXXXXXX). Copy it (CTRL+C).

Step 4: Add the ID to your Website

  1. Log in to your website admin, go to the Settings page, and scroll to Tracking.
  2. Paste (CTRL-V) the ID into the field Google Analytics ID. Hit Update.
